Snakes hunter finds enigmatic gold, diamond, sapphire pendant

A man taking part in Florida's official Burmese python yearly hunt is looking for the owner of a penny-size 18 to 22 gold pendant, with sapphires forming a cross inside a circle of diamonds he found last February, NBC reports.
Mark Rubinstein stumbled upon the partially melted, antique gold pendant at Miami’s Everglades National park, near the crash sites of two airplanes that went down in the same area: Eastern Flight 401 in 1972 and Valuejet Flight 592 in 1996.
Believed to have been crafted in the early 1800s or late 1700s, the penny-size piece’s estimated value on the market is only about $150, but Rubinstein is sure it has a high sentimental value for someone.
He has taken the piece to the Florida Gold Coast Gem & Mineral Society, which posted his find in an online forum for jewellers.
NBC reports that Stephen Walker of Walker Metalsmiths in Andover, N.Y., spotted the post and offered his expertise in Celtic jewellery to Rubinstein.
He said he believed the ornament belonged to a ValuJet flight passenger because Celtic jewellery was scarce in the 1970s and didn't become popular until the 1990s.
