Information On the Dips

Dips is an orientation program designed to interactively analyze the data base related to geological structure. This program is a tool that can be applied to many applications and is designed to be used both for beginners, as well as for users who expect stereograpik projection analysis for geological data.

Dips allows users to examine and visualize structural geology data is well built, bedding faults and other structures by following the same technique used in the manual stereonet. In addition, many features available computasi, such as statistics around the same orientation (statistical contouring of orientation clustering), a quantitative calculation of the general orientation (mean orientation calculation) and fiture qualitative models in the analysis (quantitative feature attribute analysis).

Dips have been designed for the analysis of data related to the design analysis of rock structure, so that the data format used dips file allows to analyze all forms of database orientation. Use dips among other applications for geology, mining and civil engineering. The introduction of limited application here dips dips use for determining the general direction of discontinuities in geological structures, and determination of the type of data longsora angle formed by sliding it.

Broadly speaking dips application consists of two programs, namely:

 1.    Worksheet (spreadsheet) that serves as the input data to be processed, which is made up of

        columns and rows.
 2.    Countour-plot is used to display all of the data processing in the form of contour stereonet

Dips 5.0-based version of Windows so that the data structure consists of a single file that is Dips File (*. Dips).
