Map Tilted Slopes

Slope is a factor that greatly influence the magnitude of vulnerability to flooding and surface drainage. Because in general it is known that the greater the slope of an area, the faster the water to drain off the water. To determine how much influence the magnitude of the slope of the vulnerability of the flood, then by used meteode slope is split into six classifications. Where each class has its own dignity. For areas that have a very steep slope, then the slope dignity to the lower area with dignity value 0, and conversely areas with low slope that has a high slope dignity. In this study using the slope map derived from Balikpapan City digital map.Slope class classification based on the classification proposed by Bakosurtanal (1999 with modifications). The classification contains 0-1% slope class, slope class of 1-2%, 3-4% slope class, slope class of 4-6%, 6-8% slope class, slope class> 8%.Slope derived based on the level of density on the contour, which is interpolated from elevation points. In this study maps of slope obtained from the calculation of the slope class. Slope class is determined by the density of the contour lines which is the ratio of the value Countur interval with both contours and multiplied by the distance scale in meters.

Figure 4. Slopes
From the results obtained slope mapping table containing area (km2) and percentage (%), as presented in Table 12 and Figure 3. In the tables and figures, it is known that sebagain Balikpapan city area is dominated by flat areas with slope class of 0-1% with a presentation area of 62.61% and the area is very steep with a slope class> 8% with a presentation area of area 35, 41%. So it can be said of Balikpapan has a flat topography to very steep. Flat area has a height of up to 3 meters dpal. The area is low because the city of Balikpapan often floods when it rains.
